Names

Zane is really good with names. He remembers names so well and can look at pictures and name lot's of people. When we are going to play with friends, he says all their names over and over on the way there and on the way home. Recently, he likes to "look for" the characters from his favorite books and videos. He calls their name and starts looking around for them. This video is just him saying, "Zoe" a character on Sesame Street, but usually he lists off a bunch of their names on his own (Ernie, Bert, Big Bird, Count, Elmo, Abby, Cookie, Oscar, Bear, etc. ) He also likes the Veggie Tales characters (Larry, Bob, Junior, etc.) When I finally catch the whole thing on video I will post it, but this will have to do for now.

Li'l Biggs

This week we went to Li'l Biggs with our playgroup in Colorado Springs. It had lot's of stuff to jump on, slide on, climb on and it even had a huge sand box. He played for 2 1/2 hours and wanted to keep playing.

His other favorite part was dressing up like a firefighter and driving the fire truck. He made the siren sound every time he drove.

He had never played in sand before. He wasn't sure about it being on his hands at first, but after about 10 seconds, jumped right into playing.
He eventually figured out how to pick up sand with the shovel and dump it in the buckets or other toys. He loved it and ended up spending most of his time in the sand.

Shoes Taste Good

The other day, Zane was unusually quiet in the backseat. I looked back to find this, him gnawing on his shoe. I have a feeling he may be getting some new teeth!

He's Got the Moves

I can never really get enough of Zane's dancing. It cracks me up every single time no matter what. He just goes all out. I love it. In this video he's watching Elmo's Wild Wild West, which is his favorite video. There are 2-3 parts that he can't resist dancing along with. I'm glad he's getting exercise instead of just sitting and watching!

Eating with a Spoon

Zane has started getting a little better eating by himself with a spoon. He actually did eat this whole entire yogurt with the spoon (which took about a half an hour and a lot of drips) until the end when he wanted to get every last drop out so decided to use any way possible. Notice at the end how he offered Zack and me both a bite. :)

Toy Boxes

This is the way to play with toys...just dump the box on its side and climb in to play.

Fake Laugh

Zane has had a lot of fake laughs in the past, some quiet, some loud, some to mimic us. Others when he was nervous, or when he was cracking himself up. This one is just funny.

Touchdown!

I think we have a football player in our future. He loves playing and saying, "touchdown" and "fumble." He is also getting really good at throwing and pretty good at catching when his hands are in the right spot and when it's a near perfect throw, not to mention great at eating the football. :)

Steelers are Second Best

On most Sundays Zane wears his Charger's jerseys, but since they got pushed out of the playoffs, he had to switch to his next favorite team. Zack's parents got this Steelers jersey for him. He likes the Browns too, since his aunt and uncle live in Ohio and he has some cool gear for them too.

Sick Guy

Zane was sick last week with an ear infection and cold. We didn't go to the doctor and get antibiotics until we had suffered through three days and nights of assuming it was just a cold...barely any sleep, barely any eating, and lot's of crankiness and sitting around. He couldn't breathe through his nose so his mouth was constantly hanging open. That made his lips super dry so they even started to crack. He usually doesn't want to be snuggled in, but this picture shows just how bad he felt. He didn't move from this spot for a long time and just kept sipping on his water. Poor guy!!!

New Orleans

We spent last week helping people in New Orleans with a group of 20 college students. The big group drove for about 20 hours to get there, but my mom, Zane and I flew to meet them there. We were able to help one person (Ronnie) get his house in way better shape and pretty close to livable. We also helped another guy (Darren) seal his brick wall so that he can add the insulation and walls. It was so awesome to meet back up with these guys who we had met on previous trips and have kept in touch with and to give them such an enormous boost. We also did a lot to help homeless people and got one person (Robert) checked into a 100 day program at a rehab center. Zane definitely had his role on the trip. He helped out at the house a little bit and mostly helped to keep the team in good spirits.

This is him trying to stay entertained while waiting for our plane in New Orleans airport.

We got to go to a Hornet's basketball game on Friday night. Zane really loved it, but then got way too tired, so we had to leave to walk back to the hotel at half time.
We took some breaks from all the action in our hotel room. This is Zane watching his little DVD player (which came in very handy!!!)
Every trip we go to Cafe Beignet, an outdoor restaurant on Bourbon street with live Jazz music and dancing. Usually, Zane wants to get up and be part of the fun, but this year the music sort of put Zane into a trance. He sat and listened with his feet up on the table almost the whole time we were there.
Zane wanted to help sweep up the extra weeds at Ronnie's house.
Zane watching Veggie Tales on the plane with Grandma. He actually kept his headphones on!
I loved seeing him trying to be part of the group.
