Funny Things Zane Says Lately

* Zane is pretty much completely potty trained to go #2 in the toilet now. It's been about a full week of no "accidents" which has been amazing! He still needs to work on the pee part now. Today, he looked down at his poop and yelled, "Shark! Watch out! It's a brown shark!"

* In the morning or after a nap he says, "Sleep good" instead of "I slept good."

* When he gets what he wants, he says, "I'm happy now."

* He kisses his hurt toys' owies and says, "All better."

* He named two of his dogs finally. He wanted to name them "DoggieZack" and "MommyJosie" with no suggestions from us.

* When something seems broken or slow, he says, "It's broken, let's fix it."

* When holding Emerson the other day he said, "Hi Baby Sister. How are you Baby Sister? All done Baby Sister" and gently pushed her off his lap.

* When he wants up, he asks by saying, "Mommy carry you?"

* He calls Mickey Mouse "Icky Mouse" and when cheering for the Nuggets, he says "Go Uggets."

* When he or one of us says anything that a certain person says a lot, he always gives that person credit. Like he'll say, "Nice! and then "Dada says that," since he says that a lot. It's amazing though, because he remembers quotes from characters from videos, people from the park, family members, books, etc. and tells us exactly who said what.

Our Park Adventure

Yesterday, Zane, Emerson, and I went to the park. It was extremely eventful and by the end we were all exhausted. It took me forever to get us all ready, so we didn't leave until about 11:30 and since it was so late I knew Zane would want to eat lunch so I packed us a lunch. I also packed an extra bottle for Emerson.

Anyways, once we got there I realized just how windy it was, which was hard for little Emmie to breathe and especially to sleep so I ended up having to hold her wrapped in blankets most of the time instead of leaving her in the stroller. Zane and I ate lunch together at the picnic table, which was really fun. Then he played and played. Once when I checked on Emerson, I turned around to look at Zane and he had climbed up these really high scary stairs by himself. I basically had a heart attack and almost fainted and ran over to make sure he was ok. Yikes! He also found kids to play soccer with and chased them around a bunch.

On the way home, Zane was overtired, so was crying and wanted to be carried. I was carrying him with one hand and pushing the stroller with the other and while crossing the street with cars waiting I dropped a blanket in the street. When I picked it up I bonked Zane's head on the stroller so he cried even harder the rest of the way home. Let's just say, we had a great 2 hours but I was glad to be home.
We played with our tennis ball and football on the tennis court for a VERY long time. He loved just throwing or bouncing the ball or throwing it over the net (Gigi taught him that game) and then chasing it. When I tried to beat him to the ball, he cracked up. It's amazing how much fun you can have with one small ball.

I had to get some video of him running...cute little guy! He was so giddy and giggly the whole time. It was good play time with mom while Emerson was in her stroller trying to get breaths in between wind gusts. :)

Papa and Gigi

Zack's parents came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. They stayed with us for 5 days and helped us out more than we could have asked for! They played with Zane nonstop, held Emerson, made dinner, grocery shopped, took us out, assembled toys, cleaned up, ETC. Zane had an absolute blast spending time with them we loved having them. It was great timing too, because I was really sick for some of it, so it would have been really tough without them there.

It seems like one kid is always either crying or about to...Zane in this picture and Emmie in the next.
My two little blondies. :)

She was holding Ed's hand super tight and pulling down to be sure he wouldn't let go of the pacifier.
What a Grandma... she held Emerson during our Target shopping trip so she wouldn't cry.
Watching Veggie Tales, of course.

Playgroup

Zane and I meet every other week with our friends in Monument for our playgroup. I love how entertained and engaged Zane is when he's part of the group. They are all really great kids who play well together and they rarely have fights. Anyways, a few of the kids were missing but this is Zane with Emily and Kai...

The newest members, Addalyn (Kai's sister) and Emerson. They are a week apart, but Addie was 3 weeks early. Emerson is a chunk compared to her! There are two more babies coming very soon too.

She's Awake!

Emerson has been awake a lot more lately, which has been good, but also harder in some ways. We love how alert she is when she's awake but sometimes she can be a little bit fussy (especially between 9-12 at night)!

They can't stay awake all the time......

T-Ball

We finally opened up Zane's t-ball set from his aunt Becca and uncle Chris the other day. (Thanks guys!) He wanted to play it all day and night and since this day he's gotten so good at hitting that we almost can't have it inside anymore. I like how he kept knocking the ball off on accident before he could actually hit it.

Our Second Week with Emerson and Updates

Zane was so sweet trying to hold Emerson, but he gave up really soon after she started crying. He did give her some hugs and kisses first though.
He took holding her so seriously and was very focused. :)
Hanging out on the couch...

The three of us took our first trip to the park the other day and we used our double stroller for the first time. Zane kept trying to hold Emerson's hand. Luckily she slept most of the trip so I could play with Zane.

This week we were also able to make it to Park Meadows Mall, Monument for a day, and to the library.

Zane's random updates:
* He doesn't like his hands to be dirty, so right when they get dirty he says, "Oh man!" and asks to wash his hands. He also doesn't like crumbs getting on him or the floor, so he wants to pick them up or sweep them right away. He also wipes up his own spills and actually does clean up well.
* He has gone to the bathroom on his own potty or our toilet lot's of times now. He is getting better and better at asking when he needs to go. He never forgets to get his sticker.
* He says, "Love you, Mommy or Dada" a lot now and means it.
* He answers with "Ok, yeah" or "sure" or "yep" when he's saying yes.
* He cheers for the Nuggets when any basketball game is on..." Go Nuggets!!"
* He tells us either "I like it" or "I don't like it."
* He is talking so so much now, with pretty long sentences. It's really amazing.

Emerson's random updates:
* She is sleeping already so well at night. Although she does wake up every 2 1/2 - 3 hours to eat, in between she is out cold. We are lucky!
* She sleeps through Zane's loud playing, yelling, banging, and his pushing of her seat or swing.
* She is eating and pooping like a champ!

Mother's Day

We spent Mother's Day with family at my Grandma's house. It was fun for Emerson to get passed around and held by everyone and it was fun for Zane to play with and get attention from everyone. It was fun for me to sit around, eat, and relax for a while. :)

This is a picture with 5 generations of family. Emerson, me (mom), my mom Jodi (Grandma), her dad Joe (Great-grandpa), and his mom Gladys (Great-great grandma). I feel so lucky to have such a big and loving family!

Emerson with Granny
With Gramps (her Great-great grandpa)
Zane having fun saying "Happy Pappy" with Nell and Pappy...
Of course he's wearing his PJ pants and this night he wanted to wear a PJ shirt too. I guess he just has a casual style!!

Zane's Baby Sister is Here!!!

Emerson Ruth joined the Weingartner family on Monday, May 4th, 2009 (9 days early)! She was born at 8:33 after almost 24 hours of labor and luckily only about 10 min. of pushing. She weighed 8.1 lbs and was 20 1/2 in. long.

I can't believe a week has almost passed already. So much has happened in her first week, I'm not even sure where to start. Here are some of the highlights (ups and downs) so far:

-She sleeps a LOT...way more than Zane did at first. I'm thinking this may change, but for now it's amazing how well and how much she sleeps.

-Zane has been nothing but awesome and sweet with Emerson. He offers he comfort items when she's sad, helps me burp her, asks for her when he wakes up, plys peek-a-boo, announces to us what she's up to all the time, and usually calls her "baby sista." He wants to do what she's doing and thinks it's funny to take her pacifiers and other things, but then gives them back. He has been super gentle and simply amazing. It's seriously made us love him a million times more watching him be a big brother.

- Health issues in our family since she was born:
Josie: Puking and nausea all day Sun, bad tummy Wed., little surgry to fix delivery surgery, UTI, cough
Zack: Stomach flu all night Friday and Saturday
Zane: Horrible diarrhea for past two weeks alomg with some puking, kept him up all night on Thursday night, allergic reaction to something Friday (completely swollen and red face and body)...went to E.R. He's ok now
Emerson: lttle bit jaundiced, too much weight loss at first, but all is ok now!

- Already changed close to 100 diapers between the two of them and done two loads of stained laundry!

- Have loved, loved, loved our two babies, I mean our baby and our BIG BOY!

Right after she was born, she looked at everyone who was talking to her and really seemed to be paying attention.

Sleeping like usual. This picture looks exactly like one we have of Zane!

This is from the hospital, right before going home.

All buckled in and ready to go home.

Zane is so big compared to Emerson, it's unbelievable.
Zane's Grandma (Gigi) sent this to say congratulations on being a big brother. It's been a hit in our house all week!!
Two pacifiers at once...what talent.

She likes to sleep on her side, just like Zane did.
Trying to burp her and wake her up. Wow, that's hard!

Entertainer of the Year

This is probably one of the last blog entries on Zane's blog because it's about to become Zane and Emerson's blog! :) I had to get this one on here first though.

We went to David's Bridal this week to see Jordan try on wedding dresses. Luckily, Zane was running errands with his Grandpa for most of it, but he came in at the end and was so happy to see everyone and was so happy to entertain everyone. By the way, the dress Jord picked was absolutely stunning and amazing!!
