The Little Things

Emmy has had sort of a rough transition into Kindergarten.  She just wants to be home with me all the time.  She has spent several mornings crying before school, even though she really does love it once she gets there.  Then, she decided that she actually hated the bus in the morning.  But we decided we loved it. lol.  It saves us SO much time in the mornings and plus, it's a chance for her and Zane to  bond.  We wouldn't push her to go on it as much if she were by herself, but since she has a big brother taking good care of her, we fell like it's just fine for her to ride!  We started a sticker chart with her, just for riding the bus.  She wanted to earn a date with mom first, and then a date with dad.  It worked!
Emmy and I went out for frozen yogurt and chatted about life and played Jenga. And since then, it's been a little bit up and down with the bus.  Oh our sweet, fragile, emotional girl...

Smith got the bug bite of the century on his forehead.  It swelled up worse than I've even seen and started moving down into his eyes and nose.  Since it was started to turn red around his eyes, we headed over to the doctor.  He was dressed like Jake from the Neverland Pirates and stayed in the pirate character the entire appointment.  It's kind of hard to tell, but his eyes looked so funny!
He ended up fine by the way.

Here he is, holding his Jake figurine.  Twins.
This was our first leaf pile of the season.  Smith and Emmy had so much fun in just one tiny pile of leaves.

I. LOVE. THIS. PICTURE. I snuck up on Zane and Emmy waiting for the bus at the bus stop and they were reading together while they waited.  When they are friends, it just makes everything so sweet. I love when they love each other well.
Emmy had a playdate with a friend and this is how I found Smith when I went down to check on them.  Hahahaha.  He was so patient with the girls dressing him up.

Playing in a rainstorm!!

Zane has started a new season of flag football.  Zack is the offensive coordinator this year.  :)  Zack likes being able to run plays with the kids and since it's 2nd-3rd graders now, they can actually pass and catch and run real plays.  It's so fun to watch.
Zane had a tough first game, dropped a few passes, etc. But he rocked his second game!  He caught two passes and ran for touchdowns, and also passed on touchdown pass.  He was fast, and my favorite thing he did (and does) is congratulate his teammates when they do something well.  I love watching him encouraging other kids, and also be a great sport when something is disappointing.

Just a day at the library play area
 Reading at night before bed...
Zack stayed home with the kids and got some good snuggles.

 Speaking of snuggles...

Also, on Zack's day with the kids (while I was at a women's conference), he took them to donuts for breakfast, rode bikes to the park, got slurpies, and coached a football game.  And he even put laundry away, cleaned dishes, etc. etc.  Wow, what a dad!

This is what our meals look like.  Love these guys.

All three "little" kids swinging on big swings.  They all beg me for under dogs.
 A cool fall afternoon...

Molly has been giving the best hugs when someone is sad or crying.  These two just snuggled so sweetly for like 5 minutes!

Smith and I did his first homework assignment together.  It was a poster with all his favorite things on it.  He loved thinking of ideas and glued everything down with me.

Morning date with Molly while our three kids were at school.  We went out for breakfast and walked around Louisville.
My friends, Leah and Ali, and Jord and I went to our church's women's retreat.  It was nice getting away for a night for sure.
