Emmy is a Walker Now

Here's our walking little girl. This video was actually from a few days ago and since then, she's gotten a lot faster and more balanced. She can even turn around and change her direction and she usually holds her arms straight out like Frankenstein. Today she was copying Zane and "running" away from me when I was being the "tickle monster." She actually went super fast and made all the way across the living room and kitchen before she plopped down to rest. Maybe I'll finally be able to lose the rest of my pregnancy flab now that I'll be chasing her non-stop! And yes, Zack did dress her on this day as you can see.

Cute Words

Since I posted videos of Zane talking, now it's Emerson's turn. She's really starting to repeat and remember words so well. She even recognizes and says "Elmo." What is it about him that kids love so much?? With sign language she can say, "more, please, eat, and all done" and that seems to be pretty good for her to be able to communicate what she needs to for right now. She says the word "more" when she signs it too.

She says "gentle" and when she hears it or says it she rubs her belly or someone else. We can ask her for "gentles" and she'll gently (ok, sort of gently) pat us.

When she says, "Love you" she just sticks her tongue out for the "l" and then sort of says "lu woo."

School Stories

I love hearing about Zane's days at school. Usually in the car ride home, he tells me all about it. Today, he had one story that he wouldn't stop telling about how he asked the "pink girl" (an older girl who he didn't know who was wearing pink) to play but she said she didn't want to play and it made him sad. So, then he asked Jack to play and he did. He also told me all about why Jack is a good friend.

Just watch and notice how Zane
- shrugs his shoulders when he explains something
- moves constantly all over the place while he's talking
- answers with "I do" or "He is" or "It was" etc...he does that for pretty much every answer
-repeats phrases when he wants to say a long sentence...it's like his thoughts get ahead of him sometimes

Catching up on Pictures

I didn't really realize how far behind I was at posting pictures! These go back several weeks, starting with the oldest...

Zane barely ever falls asleep in the car anymore, but since he's been on strike from napping he gets so tired in the late afternoon that he's done it more lately.
This was at Jordan and Ben's "Match Day" dinner. Zane was about to give Emerson a kiss.
We were at my Mom and Dave's house and Dave took Zane way down the hill, pulling him on a sled and when he tried to pull him back up the hill, Zane kept falling off the back so he sort of tied him on. You can see Zane in his red hat down there.

Emmy chompin on some plates with her Grandma.
A few weeks ago, we got a pretty big storm and had a snow day so of course we had to bundle up and go out to play...
Emmy couldn't just stop trying to touch and grab Zane.

Yes, Zane is wearing Little Mermaid gloves because we couldn't find his real mittens. :)
One of our many trips to the zoo. Since we got our membership, we've already gotten to go a bunch and it's been fun to meet people there. This day, we were there with Judi and Bob.

Spending some time playing in the sand and at the park...

I've been trying to teach Zane more games lately and he's been loving playing anything resembling a game. I taught him a made up version of Rummikub (which he calls Ruby Cube) that's like "Go Fish." It's good practice with numbers and he LOVES playing it!
These are some kids in our playgroup. Zane was eating with his friend Bailey and his other friends were at the other table.
These are 3 of Emerson's little friends...
We went the the Art Museum last week and I took Zane with me and left Emerson home to watch sports with Zack and Ben. Here's Zane and Jord checking out the flashing lights art room.
They had a "Bungee Maze" where there were tons of bungee cords that you could push your way through and of course it was Zane's favorite part. He did so well and wasn't timid about it at all.
Looking at some more art on the ceiling with Nell, my Mom, and our friend Becca.

This is Emerson and her little friend Ella at my Bible Study's nursery. I love taking her there because she plays so well and almost always naps there. She had been sleeping like this for over a half an hour.
This is what Zane's faces look like when he tries to draw them. I thought this one was pretty good.
Our Padres fans just hanging out... You can always tell who gets them dressed each day.
Zane was rubbing her cheek
Swimming at the rec center.

We went to the Rockies game on Saturday. The kids made it through about 4 innings and then I walked them around and let them play on the playground the rest of the time. This is Zane trying to catch a fly ball, which is his main source of entertainment during games.

We went on a walk the other day and I put them in hats and sunglasses. Emmy's only stayed on for about 5 seconds...

Singin in the Car

I love my car rides with my buddy. He sings and blabs the ENTIRE time! Here are a few tunes for you to enjoy. :)

Yankee Doodle and Itsy Bitsy Spider (Busy Busy Spider according to Zane)...

This is a remix of a made up song (in the in the car, in the in that house, in the in the church, in the in the car, in the in the in the slide), a Twinkle Twinkle rap, and his own version of "Get ready for Larry Boy" about Larry Boy from a Veggie Tales show. Then, I asked him to sing a song from his Elmo computer game because I like how he says "air." :)

Our BIG Girl

Emerson is already 11 months old and we'll be celebrating her 1st birthday in just a few weeks. Crazy.

Here is what she's been doing lately:
*She says the words shoe, tada, mama, dada, boo, Nell, and copies all sorts of other words and sounds really well.

*She can say please using sign language now and uses it to ask for help or other things.

*She fake sneezes and waves hello and goodbye to people all the time, even people she doesn't know.

*She says, "ooooh" when we ask her what a cow says and copies our barking when we bark like a dog.

*She follows directions so well now, like when we tell her to go upstairs, lay down, get Zane, tackle us, go get something, etc.

*She loves reading books and will sit with me for a really long time to read, especially when she can feel the textures in the book (which she always does with her thumb).

* She plays by herself more often now and cracks herself up sometimes.

*She plays on the playground a lot now and loves it and also eats a lot of sand and wood chips while she's playing.

Happy Swinger from Josie Weingartner on Vimeo.

* She adores Zane and copies him constantly.

*She's starting to throw mini-tantrums already...she puts her face down onto the floor and cries and she also has starting pushing and even biting Zane when she gets mad at him (poor guy!!:)

*She still hates riding in the car and barely ever falls asleep in it, even when she's really tired. Most rides she lets out a super loud scream about every 30 seconds to a min., not even exaggerating. Then Zane spends our entire car rides saying, "Stop screaming, Emmy. It hurts my ears!"

* She's eating more finger foods now and is phasing out of baby food. She also still can't drink out of a straw, sippy cup, or bottle, so I'm waiting to ween her off of breastfeeding until she can.

Easter Baskets

Here's Zane and Emerson opening their Easter Baskets...

Easter Time

This year we had lot's of Easter celebrations. Zane and Emmy were both at fun ages for everything, so we did a lot.

A week before Easter, we spent the day at Grandpa Jack and Grandma Kris' house. The kids had fun playing, searching for their baskets, gifts, and eggs.

Here's Emmy opening up her new shoes...

Playing together

Zane took searching around the house pretty seriously. He didn't really look up much, just looked for eggs like a champ.

Zane liked playing with his new bowling set...

Then, on Friday before Easter, we dyed eggs. Zane did a ton of it all by himself. He drew on the eggs, picked the colors, added stickers, etc. We only lost about 8 eggs in the process. :)
What focus!

At church on Sunday, they had a big egg hunt. Every time Zane found an egg, he gasped. So cute. He kept wanting to show Emerson what he found.
Emmy found a few too.

Zane loved the Easter Bunny and followed him around.
Emerson didn't.

After church, we went to Judi and Bob's house for lunch. Emerson wants to walk constantly and Pappy was nice enough to walk her around inside and outside.
Zane is obsessed with their dogs. Every time we're there, he wants to give them toys and also goes back and forth from their food bowl with handfuls of food for them and drops it in their cage. In this picture, he was asking the dogs to hand him back their toys. :)

Here's Pappy snorting at them when they touched his mustache. It was a big hit.
